In
2026, the United States will commemorate
250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This historic anniversary — the
Semiquincentennial — invites communities across the nation to reflect on our shared past, celebrate the present, and inspire the future.
Across Washington, official planning for this milestone is being guided by Washington’s 250 Committee, chaired by the Lieutenant Governor and supported by the Washington State Historical Society, members of the Legislature, and representatives from state agencies and commissions.
Washington’s 250 Committee is working to make sure this commemoration reaches every community, regardless of size, location, or capacity, so all Washingtonians can take part in honoring America at 250.
