King County Fair Code of Conduct

1. Each exhibitor is responsible for knowing and following the King County Fair
Code of Conduct. Failure to comply may result in forfeiture of premiums.
2. Herdsmanship must be maintained daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Exhibitors are responsible for keeping their animals and stalls/pens clean and orderly. Barn superintendent will enforce specific barn rules applicable to each species.
3. Herdsmanship judges will inspect the barn daily. Good housekeeping is essential. Repeated infractions may result in forfeiture of premiums or dismissal from the fair.
4. All animals exhibited at the King County Fair must arrive and depart at the scheduled times. Upon arrival, animals must go through a veterinary check. Any exceptions must be approved in advance by the barn superintendent and fair management.
5. Motorized vehicles are not allowed on the grounds at any time after load-in the Wednesday prior to the fair.
6. Each exhibitor is responsible for cleaning up any mess their animal makes while entering, exiting, or waiting to enter the arena.
7. Adults should not assist in preparing animals while on fairgrounds, except in cases where safety or physical limitations require intervention.
8. Horses may only be ridden in designated areas. Horses are not allowed on the grass outside the horse barn (Fair side). Horses must be led in (not ridden) into the barn
9. The livestock covered arena may only be used for practice or warm-up sessions with permission from the livestock barn superintendent.
10. We love the energy in the barns! Reminder to be friendly and engage with the public. You and your animals are here to educate and inspire visitors. Show pride in your participation!

Guidelines for Exhibitors
1. Arrive early each morning to feed and clean your animals and stalls/pens. All animals must be fed by 7:00 AM or at the time specified by your species leader.
2. Clearly label your own equipment and tack with your name.
3. Be responsible for your equipment, do not rely on others to clean up after you.
4. Take full responsibility for feeding and caring for your animals. Others may not know the correct amounts, leading to over- or under-feeding.
5. During herdsmanship hours, parents are spectators. If assistance is needed (outside of safety concerns), exhibitors should seek help from fellow participants rather than parents.

General Standards and Expectations
1. No alcoholic beverages.
2. No drugs.
3. No smoking, vaping or chewing tobacco in the barn or exhibit area.
4. No abuse of animals.
5. No coaching of exhibitors while they are in the show ring.
6. The show ring is limited to show exhibitors and show personnel.
7. Approach the judge only for information, not to dispute placings, and only after judging is complete.
8. Visibly ill or lame animals may be dismissed from participation by barn management. Proper protocol for removal of the animal is available with each barn superintendent.
9. All exhibitors must participate in herdsmanship duties.
10. Management reserves the right to dismiss any exhibitor for unacceptable behavior and will forfeit premium points.
Breaking any of these standards or guidelines may result in dismissal and forfeiture of premiums at the discretion of fair management.

We are excited to have you here and want you to enjoy your experience.
